the light was only $99. So, even after a new bulb you'd still be around $150. I'm actually going to be playing with my biocube today and am hoping to fit my 80w PC retrofit in the lid ALONG with the sock bulbs. I'll get some pics up when i finish.

UPDATE: the stock bulb from the odyssea fixture is slowing burning in and the color has gotten noticeably better over the last few days. Its still not as blue as id like, but no where near as yellow as it was. I'm loving this fixture, and would suggest it to any one else needing a good light on a budget. The ballast stays cool to touch after 6 hours of light, and with an additional wal-mart fan placed next to the fixture there is absolutely no increase in water temperature even with the MH on for 5 hours.

Hows that light working for you. I am probably going to be ordering it soon. I have read a lot of good and bad things from a lot of searching. Just wondering if it still a good item to have. For what it is You cant beat the price though.

its working great, haven’t had any problems with it yet and the corals are loving it. I'm still not the biggest fan of the color of the stock bulb, as I like more blue, but it has grown on me enough to where I don’t feel I need to replace it right away, but when time comes I’m thinking ill be getting a phoenix 14k. The ballast itself stays cool to touch as well, so if you needed to put it in a cabinet it should do fine. You might need to place a fan near by to keep your tank cool, but that’s something you’ll get with any MH over a small tank.

One word of advice, you can order these through aquatraders, or you can order then through an eBay seller "topdogsellers". I went through the eBay seller even though he does charge for shipping, it was only like a $10 difference. But my reasoning as well as a lot of people on other sites like nano-reef who have ordered these lights, is that there is a lot of negative feed back out there towards aquatraders customer service, some said they go weeks before getting responses back and other said they simply never got responses to emails or phone calls. I’m not saying there isn’t any good feedback on there some people have great luck with them, I know I’ve personally emailed them regarding finding replacement bulbs for this fixture (as a 16" 14w t5ho isn’t that common) waited 2 weeks, got no response and resent the email which took a few more days before I got anything back which was basically a "if you want these bulbs call us" type of response.

Where as the "topdogsellers" on eBay has had a lot of positive feedback, I’ve ordered two lights from him and was very impressed both times. Whenever I have a question I usually get a response back within a few hours, and to me that was worth the extra $10 incase something were to happen, I know he could take care of it.
