So, I'm watching my lone firefish and noticed a green thing on a piece of my rock that was not there yesterday. At first I thought it was bubble algae but once I got a good look at it, im not sure. its a Dark green and is not translucent at all. It looks as if they're are 7 of them and not 1 piece.
Any ideas what it could be? ![]() Thanks! Last edited by adhd : 04-17-2010 at 04:17 PM. |

It looks like valonia which can become quite a pest.If thats the only rock it's on I would take it out of the tank and use a flat blade screwdriver to dig them off.Making sure to dig into the rock under the algae.Rinse the rock and put it back in.

Could be a type of bubble algae. If the bubbles rupture they will release thousands of spores (little babies). As far as algaes go I think they are kind of neat. Just like tribbles......
I want to know more about the fuzzy acro to the right. With those colors and the out of focus it makes for a real Jimmy Hendricks moment. |

I agree, strong suspician of bubble algea. One other possibility is maybe some grape calurpa that is sprouting out of the rock. I would err on the side of caution and get it off the rock.
